ABOUT CARLOSMENDEZ Carlos Mendez has been working in Radio and Television since 2001. He is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago where he received his B.A with a concentration in broadcast communications and journalism. With stops at Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation (now Univision Radio) and Big City Radio (Viva 103.1) Carlos also produced sports in Television at the local WGBO-TV affiliate Univision 66 for nearly 3 years 2003-06) where he covered the 2005 chicago world series. He also produced and hosted shows at public independent stations WCRX-FM (club fusion 2001-03), WIIT-FM (club frequency 2005-06) and WHPK-FM (cruisin' with carlos 2003-06) and worked at 103.5 Kiss FM for 3 years in promotions & on air street appearances (2006-2009). he was a reporter and producer for Clear channel Radio’s “Total Traffic Network” division where he produced chicago traffic reports for the local radio affiliates (2005-2011). carlos also served as Programming Director of WRTE-FM (2006-2011) radio arte (now vocalo) in Chicago where he spearheaded award winning programming resulting in the local coveted “Studs Turkel” award in 2008. He worked as a co-host and producer of the independent “Radio Oro” program on 1450AM, which aired M-F 4p-6p from 2011 through 2012 and was a Chicago News Correspondent for the only National Latino Public Radio Network in the country “Radio Bilingue”from 2011 until 2012 covering chicago stories that affect latinos in our communities. He is also an accomplished mix dj and MC. In 2010 he finished in the top 10 in a reality show looking for a new host for the 50,000 watt sports talk radio station WSCR 670AM The Score and in 2012 Finished as a runner up to be the new host of Orgullo White Sox. In 2013 Carlos wrapped up his duties as a Media Traffic report Editor at Navteq/Nokia Traffic where he covered and edited traffic for major markets in philadelphia, pittsburgh, las vegas, denver, phoenix, chicago, salt lake city and others to accept a position as supervisor of WCRX 88.1 FM, the award winning Columbia College radio station and is also part of THE STAFF at said institution. he also CURRENTLY hosts and produces the only tejano music show on chicago radio "heavy nights" saturdays 8:30pm CT ON 1450am. IN SUMMER 2013 HE ALSO LAUNCHED A BRAND NEW HYBRID SECOND GENERATION LATINO GEARED INTERNET RADIO STATION RADIOTORTILLA.COM cARLOS ALSO does freelance voice over work, production and imaging for clients and independent radio producers.
